Supporting Anaesthetists’ Professionalism and Performance: a guide for clinicians

Abstract

This document has been developed to assist Fellows and trainees by providing them with a framework for understanding professionalism and performance as it applies to the practice of anaesthesia. The guide has been structured to mirror the ANZCA Roles in Practice and provide four “patterns of behaviour” under each role. Each pattern of behaviour is illustrated by a set of eight positive and negative behavioural markers. I hope that you will find this guide a useful tool for yourself and in discussions with your colleagues. In the appendices of the guide you will find references, resources and an optional assessment tool, all of which are included to provide you with additional support and flexibility to use the guide to support your practice in a way that you feel is the most beneficial.
